Barton and District Athletics Club

Barton & District Athletics Club (pictured above) have flourished remarkably due to the hard work and commitment of its volunteers. They are a friendly, forward thinking club, offering all ages and abilities the chance to participate in road running and athletics.

Their adult running section has grown significantly in the last seven years from 12 regular runners to over 110 each Thursday night in five different ability levels.

In June 2019, the group started participating in England Athletics #RunandTalk with monthly walks, jog and runs to encourage the discussion of mental health issues whilst exercising.

Bottesford Town DS Active

Well done to Bottesford Town DS Active who were runners up in the category.

Bottesford Town DS Active (pictured below) is the only Down Syndrome Team in the local area and was formed eighteen months ago by Bottesford Town FC.

With the help of parents and carers, the team has gone from strength to strength and has become a huge part of the club.

The team has gone from a group of young people thinking they could have a go at playing team football, to a strong team of athletes now entering leagues and competitions. The change in confidence of the players has been unbelievable and has made a difference to their lives.

The team has recently being affiliated to The Lincolnshire Football Association and now entering a disability league playing games across the county.
