Newsflash – Tackling Inequalities Fund - £30,000 invested into fantastic projects in the Humber

02-07-2020

Active Humber opened the Tackling Inequalities fund at the beginning of June. The fund is in place to support organisations working with those in four target groups, which are ethnically diverse communities, lower socio-economic groups, disability and those with long term health conditions to enable them to be active during this time. We know the people within these target groups are more likely to be inactive and also are significantly more affected by the Coronavirus and therefore we have a dedicated fund to support them. So far Active Humber has invested around £30,000, there is more funding still available to groups, the process is simple, please email us on info@activehumber.co.uk to register your interest and we can schedule a phone call with you to discuss your project.

Investments Made:

There has been a great interest in this fund from the outset and Active Humber are grateful for our partners support in sharing our information and supporting groups to access this fund. What has been fantastic to see is the diverse range of organisations that have approached Active Humber for support, (a list can be seen below), these groups are really supporting some of the people who are most in need in our communities across the Humber and those that the coronavirus is having a real effect on their health and wellbeing.

Each group in the list below has been greatly appreciative of the investment we have been able to provide and through speaking to them we know the funding will enable them to provide some much needed support and opportunities to those they support. There has been a good split of investment across all four target audiences, however we would like to see more applications from all areas of the Humber.

  • Humber All Nations Alliance
  • PAUL For Brain Recovery
  • Freedom Stroke Club
  • Hull Community Diggers
  • Hull Sisters
  • 2020 Community Sport CiC
  • Housing 21
  • Sight Support Hull and East Yorkshire
  • Matthews Hub

What next…

Active Humber are working through a number of projects still seeking funding, but would like to hear from more groups that are supporting people within the target audiences. The funding is there to fund physical activity opportunities where it will make the greatest impact on those who are or have been inactive during this time and need a little support to being active. Physical activity has many benefits, simply doing more walking, cycling or exercise at home will help to improve your health and overall feeling, and during this time is so important for us to be active.

If you are one of those organisations supporting our target audiences we would welcome hearing from you to discuss how the funding could help, if you work with other organisations that are in your wider networks, we would welcome for you to pass on the information and encourage groups to have a chat with us.

In a future newsletter we hope to bring you some good news stories where our investment has been used for great causes across the Humber.
