Active Humber have been successful with a funding application to the BBC Children in Need COVID-19 next steps funding.

£74,921 has been awarded to Active Humber to deliver the 12 month project, which will see the development of physical activity and sports based sessions for young people across six hotspot areas in North East Lincolnshire to engage them in positive activity, reduce antisocial behaviour and support those at risk of child criminal exploitation. COVID has exacerbated the inequalities that many young people face, therefore the need for support is higher than ever.

In addition to the physical activity sessions the project will also develop a range of targeted interventions to provide young people with the ability to develop positive lifestyle changes and develop healthier habits. Alongside this the project will also provide some of the young people with the opportunity to undertake sport and physical activity qualifications, so that they can continue after the funded project comes to an end to harness the benefits of physical activity and support their peers to make a positive change to their lifestyle longer term.
