Julie Williams has been announced as the winner of the BBC Sport Unsung Hero award 2020 for the Humber and Lincolnshire region.

Active Humber are proud to have Julie in our area and congratulate her on being this years Humber and Lincolnshire Unsung Hero.

Gary Sainty, Deputy CEO at Active Humber said;

"This years judging for the Humber and Lincolnshire Unsung Hero award was made particularly difficult by the high quality of entries we had. There is really some fantastic efforts on display and all should be proud of their contributions. However one person stood out from the rest and in Julie Williams we have somebody who represents everything positive about a sport volunteer. Julie is committed and is selfless in providing a fantastic opportunity where gymnastics can develop and succeed and she has been responsible for growing Launchpad Gymnastics into a real community asset".

Quotes from those who nominated Julie include;

"Julie is just all round a good human being. She is the reason for my success in life. I am now an acrobat for cirque du soleil in Las Vegas and all because Julie took it upon her self to push me to be the best person I can be!"

"The club is a massive part of Julie's life, whether she’s promoting the club, hands on coaching with babies, pre-schoolers, recreational classes or traveling up and down the country attending elite competitions with the high performance squad...you can guarantee that Julie will be there!"

"I think Julies dedication and enthusiasm for the sport is unbelievable. She has given so much more than health and well-being to children in this city. She has shown them how to support one another, entourage each other, work through their disappointments and share the joy of the whole team when they had success. She is everything you would expect of an unsung hero."
