Active Humber at the Waterline Summit 2020

28-09-2020

Active Humber are delighted to be the community sponsors of the Waterline Summit 2020, 19th to 23rd October.

The Waterline Summit returns for a second year and will be even bigger and better with the week-long event being hosted online.

Climate Change and the Humber

The summit is all about how the Humber region is tackling Climate change and how the Humber is at the leading edge of all of this, as well as working with international bodies on the global challenge we face. The summit will showcase the Humber’s innovative expertise like no other, focusing on ‘how to’ develop, finance and scale transformational projects from policy through to local action. The event will bring together all elements of place, demonstrating how we all have a part to play in achieving a net-zero carbon economy for the Humber.

Community groups, investors, government representatives and industry leaders across all sectors will be in attendance.

David Gent, CEO Active Humber addresses the conference

On the 19th in the morning David Gent, CEO Active Humber will be addressing the conference on the connection between community and climate change and the role of physical activity to helping areas become carbon neutral. Then in the afternoon there is a session on the ‘culture of climate change’.

The aim of this community engagement event is to connect with the community groups around the Humber and bring them into the regions journey to a net-zero carbon future. The hope is that groups from across the worlds of activity, sport, dance, the arts and culture will come away from the event feeling more aware of the projects happening in the Humber and also a sense of purpose/ place in the fight against climate change and understand how they can take action in their own lives.

Each of the sectors will be discussing how they can help to make Humber the first place in the UK to go carbon neutral.

Virtual Exhibition

There is also a virtual exhibition platform and Active Humber will be exhibiting and working alongside others exhibitors with the aim is to make the whole exhibition a most immersive experience where attendees can browse exhibition stands and attend talks from home.

Also in the summit are sessions to help students as they come to terms with the challenges of climate change and we will be keen to find out their ideas on the role of physical activity to a better climate.

Attend free of charge

We are encouraging all physical activity and sports groups and people from across the Humber to sign up to the conference which is free to attend. The details can be found here.https://thewaterlinesummit2020.vfairs.com/
