Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader with well-developed interpersonal skills to help us take our work to the next level; someone who can develop partnerships with a range of stakeholders to inspire and engage disabled people to take part in physical activity and sport.

This is a broad and varied role and the successful candidate will have a diverse skill set. The responsibilities of the role are to provide strategic leadership, advocating for our work, developing the organisation, and building on the successful partnerships we have built, whilst also providing
day-to-day operational management.

Within the operational element of the role the postholder will manage the organisation’s financial, physical and people resources, to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of Disability Sport Yorkshire for the future.

We are looking for candidates with strong communication skills, evidence of strategic planning and leadership, proven organisation skills, experience of managing projects (often complex) and an ability to work on their own initiative. Applicants will also have a sound financial understanding, to ensure that we meet our budgetary and regulatory requirements.

This is an exciting time for Disability Sport in Yorkshire, as we enter a period of change and plan for the next three years. Yorkshire is one of the most successful regions in England for disability sport, but with over a million disabled people in Yorkshire of whom only 18% are physically active, there is still much to be done. The need for our services has never been greater. This unique role will be an opportunity for you to work with the Board of trustees to further develop disability sport across Yorkshire and the Humber.
