Humber School Games Badminton Winners Crowned

06-02-2020

School badminton teams from across the Humber battled for a place in the County finals of the School Games today, with teams from Beverley High, Sir John Nelthorpe, Hymers College and Beverly Grammar taking the winning titles.

This is the first year to see students take part in both the racket league (for those to have the opportunity to play in a club setting outside of school) and pathway league (for those who already play competitively outside of school).

Taking place at the University of Hull, the tournament saw girls and boys from both Key Stage 3 and 4, compete for the four winning pathway spots. The competition saw some extremely close matches taking place throughout the day.

The racket league spots were won by schools from St Marys College, South Hunsley and Wolfreton.

Jo McDonald, Sports Development Manager for Active Humber said "It’s been a fantastic day, with some really close and well fought battles. Well done to everyone who took part, and a big congratulations to all of the winners – we will see you at the next round!".

Today's winners will now go on to compete in the finals taking place on 3rd March at EIS, Sheffield.
