On the 12th June the Sports Welfare Officer from Active Humber, North Yorkshire Sport and Yorkshire Sport Foundation hosted the first Sport Welfare Connect online event.
This was an opportunity for Club Welfare Officers from across different sports to come together and share experiences and views around welfare within their sports and clubs.
The event was well attended by clubs within our communities, it was fantastic to hear different perspectives and views. Together with the attendees, we explored what good safeguarding culture looks like within clubs, challenges for the role of a club welfare officers and what Sport Welfare Officers can do to support clubs.
Lots of amazing feedback and ideas were received and the team are looking forward to putting this into action across the region.
We want to send a big thank you to all that attended the session, we will continue to listen to those in our communities and look forward to the next event on the 25th September 2024. If you would like to be the first to know when we launch the sign up to the event in September please email Mary Smith on Msmith@activehumber.co.uk, more details on the event will follow soon. We hope to continue to grow this network of club welfare officers and those passionate about welfare in Sport.
