Last week, the Sport Welfare Team at Active Humber, North Yorkshire Sport, and Yorkshire Sport Foundation held our third online Sport Welfare Connect Event. We were thrilled to welcome clubs from different sports across our region, all keen to learn more about welfare and safeguarding in sport.
Active Bystanders and Community In Motion
At the event, we introduced the Active Bystander approach, which helps people take positive action when they see something worrying. We also shared details about our Community In Motion training, available to sports clubs across our region. This training helps clubs create safer and more welcoming environments.
We were lucky to have the NSPCC join us to share valuable safeguarding advice. They presented real-life scenarios, encouraging attendees to think about the best ways to protect people in sport.
It was great to see so many volunteers giving their time to support this important cause. Their commitment and enthusiasm showed just how vital these conversations are.
We’re already planning our next Sport Welfare Connect Event, which will take place on:
⏳Date: 2nd April 2025

✅ Information about PAPYRUS and the support they offer
