Case Study

Empowering Brigg Residents with MS, Parkinson’s, and Stroke to Stay Active

Jamie, a dedicated personal trainer from North Lincolnshire, was approached with a unique challenge: to help individuals living with MS, Parkinson’s, and those recovering from strokes in Brigg remain active and engaged. Recognising the need for specialised support, Jamie utilised funding from Get Out Get Active (GOGA) to create a safe, inclusive space where these individuals could engage in physical activities tailored to their needs.

In collaboration with the Stroke Association, Jamie established a weekly fitness session held at Brigg Methodist Church. The group initially started with just 4-6 participants, but thanks to Jamie’s commitment and the positive results seen by attendees, the group has grown to over 14 regular participants.

This initiative has now become an integral part of Jamie’s weekly program, which is run by her newly established Community Interest Company (CIC). The program not only supports physical health but also fosters a sense of community among participants who face similar challenges, helping them regain confidence and improve their quality of life.

For all of them who take part, they see people who have gone through the same thing. They can see progress. They can see that there's hope. They get that motivation from each other it's great.
