Havelock Academy makes use of Open School Facilities funding

Havelock Academy were successful in accessing funding through the Opening Schools Facilities Fund (OSF), which was made available by Active Humber.

As detailed below, this has had a positive impact on various areas, which has made the use of school facilities for the community more sustainable. The funding has enabled us to provided students and community users new opportunities to participate and better facilities to use.

Swimming Pool

Investment

Funding was utilised to by a brand new pool cover, fund pool chemicals and upgrade changing rooms by replacing condemned benches in the changing rooms.

Impact

The pool cover has a reduced energy bills for heating the pool and air conditioning. This has ensured the cost to maintain the pool has been reduced and is more sustainable for the Academy, to ensure community and school use is maintained.

Replacing condemned changing room benches means they can be used for changing for swimming lessons, club sessions and school sessions, ensuring a better experience for users.

Impact

Higher quality facilities for increased community lettings and school enrichment use. Meets National Governing Body standards for netball and tennis. This has increased student attendance by over 50% at enrichment clubs due to quality of facilities provided.

The courts are floodlit and have been promoted to community users to increase lettings for netball and tennis.
