Foresight (North East Lincolnshire) Limited operates throughout North and North East Lincolnshire to meet the needs and requirements of disabled people, their families and carers.
When Foresight received the Tackling Inequalities Fund, it meant they were able to deliver outdoor sporting activities for their learners.
The outdoor sporting activities were beneficial for many of Foresight's learners, but for one learner in-particular the outdoor sporting activities meant everything.
Learner R has Autism and ADHD, which played a part in him finding the changes around him, due to the pandemic, extremely difficult to understand and cope with. His timetable of daily activities was cancelled and he was unable to visit his favourite places at that time. This led to him becoming very agitated and this led to outbursts due to his frustration.
Learner R sees Foresight as his lifeline, and being able to offer him a few sessions a week where he could get out of his house, be in new surroundings, meet with his peers once more and release his energy into sporting events was extremely valuable.
It meant he was able to have a purpose once more after months of feeling fearful to leave his home because of what was happening and not being able to see his family and friends.
For Learner R starting a new routine was tricky at first, he lacked motivation to get out the house and exercise and feeling motivated to be active; however with patience and encouragement he involved himself more into the sporting sessions and looks forward to a new timetable of activities each week. Without this funding, this would not of been possible for this learner and many others in similar situations.
