Case Study

Partnership with Tuition and Medical Needs Education Team

TAMNET have been working in partnership with us at Active Humber along with Get Ahead Partnership and The Pods in North Lincs. (The Pods is a leisure facility in

Scunthorpe).

Through Humber School Games Funding we have been able to pilot activity at the provision and activity at The Pods. Get Ahead Partnership have provided 6 weeks of physical activity for the students who attend - there is the provision in the morning and The Pods activity carousel is held in the afternoon. Before these sessions started there was no set time for physical activity at the provision due to dedicated space, timetables and delivery staff.

The Pods sessions for the afternoon group have given TAMNET students the opportunity to try some different activities in a community setting and gain life skills from being in a public place, staff said all students had looked forward to both sessions.

Jo Wressell, teacher at TAMNET, said:

“Students always looked forward to Rob’s sessions, one student never participated in PE sessions and now understands the benefits and takes part, in mainstream settings 90% of our students have had negative experiences in PE and we want to change that mindset.”
