"'Football has helped me in more ways than one, I was never very good at football when I was at school, being goal keeper I could not do to save my life, going to premier pitch has given me confidence and boosted me - it’s fun and I look forward to going and I’ve even managed to save some goals" Barry, participant

Case Study

Supporting children on the Autism spectrum to become more active through football

Magic Moments for Autistic Kids is a charity based in Scunthorpe which supports young people on the autism spectrum and their families.

In early 2022 Magic Moments received some funding from Active Humber to be able to offer the young people they work with weekly football sessions.

These young people struggled to find suitable activities where they were made to feel welcome and their needs could be catered for.

However these sessions have enabled the young people to not only access regular physical activity but to establish their own football team, where they will be able to continue to play and compete longer term.
