This Girl Can: Let's Get Out There- Hannah's Story

Hannah’s Story

“I always try to make the most out of my local area, which whilst I was at university, was the local park or canal. Going for a daily walk at university helped me to focus on my work and ensure it was able to be completed to a high standard and as a bonus it was free to do!

I have always had a love for being outside. This made the transition to my job role at Active Humber tricky with many hours being sat behind a laptop screen. To help combat this struggle I started to go on a daily walk before work and on my lunch break which has really helped me to have thinking time for my work making me more productive with my time!

On weekends I love to get outside and be physically active. This can be through mountain biking, paddleboarding, surfing or even going on a walk in the beautiful Yorkshire and East Riding countryside. Some of these activities are new to me but I love the challenge of learning a new skill and the sense of accomplishment when I push myself to achieve it.

I would always encourage others to do the same as I find it helps to get rid of energy that has been built up during the week, and helps you to feel calm and accomplished. I also really enjoy it as it is an opportunity to spend time with friends and have a laugh whilst staying fit and healthy at the same time. So many activities are easily accessible and can be cheap to do. Just get creative and have fun!”
