Paris, France — The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have officially begun, marking the start of an inspiring 12-day event where the world’s top para-athletes will showcase their extraordinary talents and determination. With over 4,400 athletes from more than 160 nations participating, the 2024 Games promise to be a celebration of human spirit, resilience, and the pursuit of excellence.

Among the competitors are three exceptional athletes from the Humber region—Chris Skelley, Zac Shaw, and Roy—who are set to represent Great Britain with pride and determination. As they prepare to take on the world’s best, we send our heartfelt good luck to these local heroes. Their journey to Paris has been one of hard work, dedication, and unyielding passion, and we are confident they will make the region proud.

Supporting Our Humber Athletes

Chris Skelley, a seasoned judoka, will be defending his Paralympic title in the visually impaired Judo competition, hoping to add another gold to his collection. Zac Shaw, a world-class sprinter, will be looking to make his mark on the track in the T12 category, showcasing his speed and determination. 

As the games progress, we will be closely following their performances, cheering them on every step of the way. The Humber region is united in support of these incredible athletes, and we look forward to celebrating their achievements, both during and after the Games.
