In partnership with Co-op, this mental health day shows the significance of those all-important conversations with friends, families and colleagues.
The day will take place on February 6 and runs UK wide with SAMH (Scottish Action for Mental Health) in Scotland, Inspire in Northern Ireland and Time to Change Wales involved.
Time to Talk Day 2024 revealed: “The tactic of bottling up was highest amongst younger people with 69% of 16–24-year-olds and 72% of 25–34 year-olds reporting they avoid saying how they really feel.”
Sports clubs have the power to spark conversations about mental health whether it is in the stands or in the changing rooms, spreading the message that talking and listening about this topic can change lives.
Nearly two thirds of the UK public put on a brave face to avoid talking about their mental health so anything from a conversation-led warm up session to handing out tip cards will help.
Mind and Rethink Mental Illness are encouraging open and honest conversations to reduce the stigma around seeking help when it may be needed.
Getting involved is a simple as using the #TimeToTalk on social media, having conversations with friends and family or by organising activities and events in your community.
Whether it’s a tea and talk event, a community walk, virtual bingo or hosting a lunch and learn event, make space in your day for a conversation about mental health.
We all have mental health and by talking about it we can support ourselves and others so make space for a conversation.
