Race Equality Matters tackles inequalities five challenges at a time

03-02-2025

Race Equality Matters co-created the Five-Day Challenge as a part of Race Equality Week to remove barriers and provide the solutions to tackle racial discrimination.

Race Equality Week will run this year from February 3 to 9 with over 1,500 organisations taking part.

The group are a UK-wide collaboration uniting thousands of organisations and employees to achieve race equality in the workplace and in society.

The Five-Day Challenge supports this year’s theme Every Action Counts and asks organisations take just five minutes each day to complete five different activities to practice self-reflection, understand the impact and drive change.

The days are as follows:

Day one: Intersectionality

Day two: Recognising Privilege

Day three: Inclusive Language

Day four: Code Switching/Masking

Day five: The Big Promise

The challenge is inspired by Dr. Eddie Moore’s Racial Equity Habit Building Challenge and aims to enable a better understanding of the issues, barriers, and experiences of different people so they can be more inclusive when interacting and working with people from communities, backgrounds, and cultures that are different from their own.

Their theme references that there is too much talk and too little action so encourages audiences to take initiative and drive forward meaningful progress for the biggest impact.
