Celebrating our fantastic volunteers at Hey Smile Foundation's Time2Volunteer Awards

16-10-2025

Congratulations to all the winners at HEY Smile Foundation's Time2Volunteer Awards 2025 !!

Well done to Liam Bexon who won our sponsored Active and Sports award. He has volunteered at Eastrington Sports Club for over 5 years and spends 25-30 hours per week during cricket season as a coach, pitch preparation, grounds management, and facility upkeep. He continues coaching indoors and serves on the Playing Field Committee off-season, balancing these roles with work and family. His efforts enable around 80 local children to access regular coaching, improving skills, confidence, and teamwork. He also supports fundraising for the club's sustainability and pavilion development. Showcasing his vital role in nurturing youth development and sustaining community sport.

Also a big shoutout to our community ambassador, Sophie Bartup who won the Founding Volunteer Award and Gary Davies who won the Inclusive Volunteer Award!

Sophie's award was accepted on her behalf by Jo Lambon who is on Active Humber's board of trustees and also one of our community ambassadors. Sophie Bartup is the founder and chair of Barton Inclusive FC, a football club built entirely around inclusion, opportunity, and community. Since launching the club in 2019, Sophie has created a safe, thriving space where over 400 players — many with additional needs — are supported by more than 60 dedicated volunteers. Her passion for inclusion is clear in everything she does, from coaching adult disability teams to designing a youth leadership pathway that empowers young players with disabilities to become confident, capable coaches.

Gary Davies is a dedicated and inspiring volunteer who has devoted his time and passion to making football inclusive and accessible for all, particularly young people with disabilities. As the driving force behind Little Victories FC—a cerebral palsy-specific community football club—and a volunteer coach for Barton Athletic’s Pan Disability Adult Team, Gary creates safe, supportive environments where players of all abilities can thrive. His leadership, coaching, and mentorship extend beyond sport, fostering confidence, respect, and belonging among participants.

Thank you the HEY Smile Foundation & partners for a wonderful evening celebrating these amazing volunteers.
