Active Humber welcomes coastal path progress

19-03-2026

Active Humber is pleased to see England’s coastal path getting closer to completion.

The King Charles III England Coast Path will be a 2,700-mile walking route around the whole of England’s coastline. Much of it is already open, making it easier for people to reach and enjoy coastal areas that were once hard to access.

The coast is a big part of life in the Humber. It shapes the region’s history, environment and local economy. From the estuary to long stretches of shoreline, these places matter to the people who live here. Better access means more people can enjoy and appreciate them.

Walking is one of the simplest ways to stay active and healthy. Having safe, free routes like the coastal path makes it easier for people to get moving. It also gives people the chance to spend time outdoors, which is good for both physical and mental health.

Being near the coast can help people feel calmer, reduce stress and improve mood. Making these spaces easier to reach can help more people enjoy these benefits as part of their everyday lives.

The coastal path is more than just a walking route. It helps people connect with nature and with their local area. It also supports healthier lifestyles and encourages people to spend more time outside.

Active Humber sees this as a great opportunity to help people across the region become more active and feel better, while also celebrating the coastline that makes the Humber special.
