Our new values at Active Humber

08-07-2026

At Active Humber, we've recently refreshed our company values to better reflect who we are today and what matters most to us as an organisation.

Since we last reviewed our values in 2018, our organisation has evolved, with many new colleagues joining us over the years. As we continue to grow, it was important that our values represent the people we are today and the way we work.

Our refreshed values will continue to guide how we support our partners, collaborate with external organisations, and work together as colleagues to create positive impact.

As a team we discussed the values that are important to us in our every day lives and shared what we think are the values that we should all work to and agreed this collectively.

It has been important for us to share these values, as they only become meaningful when they are communicated, and demonstrated on a daily basis; turning them from statements into actions.

Our External Values:

Integrity

We want to be trusted and consistent in everything we do. That means being honest, doing what we say we will do, and making sure our work is fair and accountable.

Collaboration

We get the best results when we work together. Active Humber is at its strongest when we bring partners, places and communities into the same conversation and help connect the dots.

Equity

We want everyone to have a real chance to be active. That means recognising that people face different barriers, and some communities will need more support than others to access the same opportunities.

Hear from our team about what our values mean to them:

Nicola Massingham, our Director of Development, chooses Equity: "The value I have chosen is Equity as I think this summarises the Place expansion work very well.

"Equity is really important when supporting people who face the greatest inequalities to be physically active because it recognises that individuals have different needs and barriers when it comes to accessing opportunities and ensures they receive the tailored support and opportunities required to participate and become more physically active."

Lucy Playford, our Marketing Manager, explains why collaboration resonates with her the most: "Collaboration is a key part of our work in the Active Humber marketing team. Sharing key messages from national, regional and local partners to keep the 'moving-more' message out there is vital to advocating for physical activity across all sectors!"

Mary Smith, our Sport Welfare Officer, says: "Integrity underpins everything I do, ensuring that safeguarding, welfare and participant wellbeing remain at the centre of every conversation, decision and piece of support we provide.

"The caring culture at Active Humber makes it easy to have honest conversations, support one another and work together to improve experiences for the people and communities we serve."
