The award ceremony, organised by HEY Smile Foundation, was held at the Double Tree by Hilton hotel in Hull and was a great opportunity to showcase the wonderful volunteers in our community.
Active Humber proudly sponsored the Sport and Active Volunteer Award, won by Phoenix FC, a charity football team based in Hull who have an incredible team of volunteers who give up their time to run the club.
Phoenix FC started just over 3 years ago with just a handful of people and a dream to use football as a way to support various local charities.
In those 3 years the club has grown to over 50 members. They have raised and donated over £10000 which has helped so many people across the region.
Also shortlisted for the Sport and Active award were local Parkrun volunteers Stuart Fynn and William Wilson, a boxer and footballer, who spend a significant amount of their time supporting various local charities.
The awards shine a light on the many amazing volunteers in the region, highlighting the joy, connection and belonging that volunteering brings to so many lives, both to those who volunteer and those who benefit from volunteers commitment and dedication.
As always it was a wonderful afternoon and Active Humber will once again be supporting this amazing event in 2027!
