Imagine a world where men and women are truly equal—free from bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that celebrates diversity, fairness, and inclusion, where differences are valued. Together we can make this a reality and achieve gender equality!
Right now, though, it’s projected to take until 2158 (about five generations) from today to reach full gender equality, according to the World Economic Forum.
At Active Humber, we believe that sport and physical activity can bring people together through enjoyment, fun, and shared achievements. Our team is dedicated to making sports and physical activities safer and more welcoming for everyone.
Over time, we’ve worked harder to address the barriers and biases that women face. Through our Girls Carousel programme, we run special sessions for Year 9 and 10 girls in schools across the Humber region. The goal is to get girls who might not enjoy PE or need more confidence, to try new activities to get involved. Active Humber want to get these young people moving, taking part in a range of activities hoping they find something they enjoy and want to continue, we want to give the girls a positive experience of physical activity and appreciate the benefits it has on health and wellbeing in general.
We’re also involving the girls in workshops where they can share their ideas and help design the programme, they’re a part of.
The team at Active Humber stand in solidarity this International Women's Day striking the strong arm pose for this year's theme, Accelerate Action.
There are still big challenges to achieving gender equality, but with the right support and action, we can make real progress for women everywhere.
Collectively for #IWD2025 we can all #AccelerateAction
