All Wheelz Gains Momentum: Expansion and Exciting Developments Unveiled for 2024

All Wheelz, the innovative initiative that provides scooters and skateboards from residents to use, is thrilled to announce its continued expansion and exciting developments for the year 2024. The project, centred around enabling more people to be able to be active through skating and scooting, has seen significant growth and positive impact over the past year. Throughout 2023, All Wheelz has maintained a vibrant presence at the Hut, offering the community the opportunity to rent scooters and skateboards including having 423 loans over a 3-month period. In a move to extend accessibility, scooters are now available at the high school for students during out-of-class hours and as part of a reward scheme. Staff members have found the introduction of scooters, not only outside of class but also integrating the use of scooters into maths lessons, to be an excellent incentive, encouraging student engagement in lessons and providing a unique way to encourage focus on schoolwork.

Coming soon: The transformation of Withernsea Skate Park

Active Withernsea has been actively collaborating with Withernsea Town Council and various departments of East Riding Council to bring to life the vision to transform Withernsea skate park as a venue fit for the future. A pivotal focus has been the redevelopment of the local skatepark which will begin in January 2024. Conversations with the community have been instrumental in shaping the vision for this project with local young people inputting into the design. This project is set to be an exciting transformation that will make the space more accessible for scooters, BMX bikes, and skateboards.

As part of the forthcoming redevelopment, Active Withernsea are on working alongside Withernsea Town Council to create a ‘Friends of the Skatepark’ group alongside ‘Skatepark Rangers’. These individuals will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the skatepark and fostering a positive environment for users. Additionally, We are inviting community members to consider joining the Friends of the Skatepark group, a collective effort to contribute ideas toward further developing the space in the future.
