Supporting local organisations to create a greener future makes a big difference! Active Humber, with Street Games and Hull City Council, launched a city-wide sports kit recycling scheme in Hull. This initiative provided free sports kits to those in need and significantly reduced textile waste
Over one week, sports kits were collected, sorted, and distributed through local organisations already delivering community activities. This scheme not only tackled the high cost of sports kits but also helped reduce the 350,000 tonnes of clothing ending up in UK landfills each year.
Long-term, the project aims to create sustainable links between sports providers and collection points for ongoing support.
