At Active Humber we're working to challenge all inequalities that prevent or discourage people from leading active lives and enjoying the benefits of sport and physical activity as participants, volunteers, coaches, working with or cheering from the touchline.
LGBT+ Awareness Training
Active Humber have delivered two series of LGBT+ Awareness training to Volunteer Action North Lincolnshire (VANL) and their partner agencies. This training has been really well received and has meant that participants have gone on to implement “bite size” changes towards inclusivity into their everyday practice, such as considering using gender neutral language.
White Ribbon Training
Across the Humber region we have delivered White Ribbon training events in Hull, Bridlington, and York. White Ribbon is a global movement that seeks to end male violence against women.
Allyship Training
Active Humber hosted a workshop at the Sport in the Spotlight Conference at the Centre for Social Justice in Sport at Leeds Beckett university. This workshop was about the importance of being an ally and was delivered to a mix of professionals and academics, some travelling from as far as Canada and South Africa.
Positive Masculinity
Working in partnership with North Yorkshire Sport, Active Humber have recorded a series of podcasts, around positive masculinity that were made available on the YH Learning platform for International Men’s Day on 19th November.
International Women's Day
Active Humber were asked to speak at an International Women’s Day event hosted by a local community group for refuges, Borashaaba. We spoke about our work with White Ribbon as well as the importance of males recognising strong female role models within their lives.
