Speaker Engagements
In 2024, Active Humber was asked to speak at 36 national events about the work taking place in the Humber and how this learning could be applied across England. The presentations focussed on:
- Environmental sustainability and climate change
- Children and Young People
- Health
- Equality
- Coastal matters
- Skills and workforce
Yorkshire and Humber
Active Humber are part of the Sport, Physical Activity, Recreation Coalition (SPARC) along with other partners across Yorkshire and the Humber. SPARC has engaged with numerous partners at a regional and national level to make the case for increased levels of activity. As part of the coalition, Active Humber has focussed on two areas: environmental sustainability and coastal inequalities. Because of our work, these topics have received a much greater awareness at a national level.
In the Humber
Our work in the Humber around advocacy has focussed in two areas.
Health
Working with the Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board and North Yorkshire Sport to integrate physical activity across the activities of the ICB.
Economic Development
Working with the Hull & East Yorkshire Business Growth and Skills hub to integrate the physical activity and sport sector into the wider skills network.
Communications
Social Media
Over the past year our influence over social media has grown. With hundreds of new followers to our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts. There were a remarkable 376 new connections on LinkedIn showing that more and more people across the region are interested in finding out about the important work we are doing at Active Humber.

Newflashes
We have also increased our email newsletter output so that in the second half of the year we were consistently hitting our target of 3-4 Newsflashes per month. The open rate of our Newsflashes have more regularly been hitting the industry standard of 35%. In 2025 we plan to create more targeted mailing lists which will mean that recipients only receive news that is relevant to them.
